MDS provides a wide range of security services including close protection teams or an individual PPO, Maritime security teams, hostile environment first aid, maritime security training.

Maritime Security

MDS provides armed and unarmed security teams onboard vessels transiting the areas such as the GOA and Malacca straights.

All our maritime team members are SSO and STCW95 certified and come from a variety of forces backgrounds.  We also employ a large number qualified divers to meet any sub service security demands such as hull searches and port facility underwater security checks.

Close protection teams

MDS has an extensive database of security professionals all of which are experienced in the close protection and hostile environment.  Our security members are primarily UK forces that have served in Iraq or Afghanistan not only as serving military members but also as part of close protection teams for civilian PSC’s.  All have the SIA licence in close protection and some form of advanced medical training.

Personal Protection Officers.

MDS provides individual PPO’s as well as CP teams to those persons requiring a smaller more personal level of security.  All our PPO’s have the same background as the CP teams being either ex UK SF or having had many years working as a PPO in a hostile environment.

MDS are also the only authorised training centre for the public safety diver qualification in Europe. This means that if required we can ensure your PPO is certified to carry out diving duties where he can be an effective rescue diver, security officer and dive supervisor.

MDS provides some of the best training in the world for hostile environment CP duties.  With the Cypriot climate and landscape being similar to that of the Middle East we are able to create realistic conditions to those of Iraq and Afghanistan.  We also conduct the FPOS Intermediate course in these conditions giving you the best PSC pre deployment training available.  MDS has also been awarded with the certification to be able to train members in the use of the FAST-1 I/O device.  This is becoming the preferred method of delivery for intravenous fluids to a casualty by medics in hostile environments.  Read more about this device on the FAST-1 page of this site.

Maritime Security teams

MDS can provide experienced ship security teams worldwide.

MDS security teams will provide a visible deterrent to pirates and provide specialist, highly trained personnel to focus on vessel security.  All our members are trained in maritime security and will conduct anti piracy watchkeeping 24 hours a day whilst on any given transit.

All our teams carry independent communications to allow non essential crew to take covers whilst the security teams can manage the incident and contact the shore based operations room who will then pass on the details to relevant agencies.

All MDS personnel are former military or police with the bulk to TL’s being made up from British military personnel.  At the minimum each member has met the following certification levels.

No criminal record and honourable discharge

Member of the SIA

ISPS SSO certificate

MDS Weapons safety course

STCW 95

Yellow Fever vaccination

Seamans discharge book

Crisis Management

MDS is able to advise and provide training for operations crisis management in both commercial and hostile environments.

Our operations team consists of some of the most experienced operations and crisis management members in the world.  With decades of experience in the military, police service and middle east hostile environment, we can analyse your current SOP’s and advise where necessary to implement changes.

MDS are able to carry out simulated crisis management training to company and fleet operators.  This is most beneficial as the correct actions can lead to much faster responses from government, security or emergency services.

Weapon Training

MDS conducts a short weapon safety course that exceeds the minimum required standards for weapon safety at sea.

This course has been designed by one of the first ever members of the British forces to carry weapons on a warship as a ships defence team member to meet the terrorism threats in the 1980’s

Successful completion of the course is awarded with a certificate in safe weapon practices onboard a merchant vessel.

This is a non firing course at present and is only offered to those personnel that can produce as service record of prior weapons training and shooting competencies.

MDS can provide a full range of communications services starting with configuration and supply of hand held VHF radio’s to full communication and IT pacakages.

With relatively short notice we can deploy to any country or hostile environment our own forward communications officer with full VHF, HF and sat com capability.

Our specialists can set up ops rooms, carry out vehicle fits, install ships communications devices such as  marine radios and AIS systems and equip and train personnel to meet almost any communications demands.

For oil products vessels, LNG carriers or any other vessel that has a potential explosive atmosphere, all our radio’s are of an intrinsically safe design that meets the ATEX directive and standards
